How to Dress For a First Date on the Beach

So, your crush finally asked you out! First dates can be truly amazing, especially if they are with someone you really like. You must be experiencing those jittery first-date butterflies, imagining how everything will go. One of the crucial elements of getting ready for that very first romantic day out is picking out the perfect outfit. Your goal is to be stylish, but not look like you are trying too hard. When it comes to a beach date, the outfit-picking process is actually a fun one, as opposed to that for a dinner date where you try on dozens of outfits in your attempt to look effortlessly striking. The beach date has the ‘effortless-looking’ part built in, and more than that, it leaves you plenty of room to play around, mix and match, accessorize and generally keep the outfit fun and breezy, and we are here with a little helping hand in order to get you looking like a laid-back beach princess that will knock your date of their feet.

The classic beach day

If the plan for the big day is a full-blown fun in the sun, a bathing suit is in order. You can go with a bikini, which is always appropriate for the beach. If on the other hand you think that the first date is not exactly an occasion where you wish to show little skin, (or you have tiny insecurities about your figure and you don’t want your date to see your flaws immediately), you can always go with the currently equally hot and trendy one piece. Cut-off denim shorts perfectly complement this swimsuit, and you can either go with a cute T-shirt (which you can later take off, or a great kimono. This is perhaps an even better option – it’s fresh and sort of elegant at the same time, while maintaining that laid-back beachy-boho quality to it. A pair of great sunglasses is a must, as well as stylish wedges, (to visually elongate the legs) and you are good to go.

The no-frill bohemian look

A great summer dress is one of the simplest and most effective garments a girl can pull out of her closet and look great in just a matter of minutes. It can be your classic bright-colored strappy sundress, mini or maxi, whichever you prefer, the effect will be the same. The second-best option is vibrant-colored jumpsuits, and you can find amazing jumpsuits online, in all different styles ranging from minimalistic to boho. They are elegant and relaxed at the same time, and perfect for a first date because they do your figure justice. And their sheer fabric will show off your body just enough, while leaving certain things to the imagination. A straw hat is a great partner to this outfit, or a headscarf, if you are into them. The perfect footwear to complete the outfit are flat sandals, and don’t be afraid to accessorize – put on as many cute gold- or silver-colored bracelets or bangles, as you wish. Go full bohemian in the accessories department, and don’t forget your colorful beach tote.

A bit dressed up

If a more classic first-date look is more your cup of tea, you might find the dressy beach style the perfect option for you. A long-sleeve white blouse is lightweight, but it’s the lacy sleeves that make it stand out and up the wow factor. As this is a dressy outfit, you might want to go with non-denim, vibrant pair of shorts, red or orange with gold details would give you the pop of color to elevate the look. Keep the accessories minimal – a subtle gold necklace and bracelet will ooze class, but won’t seem like you’re trying too hard. Add a summer fedora and block heel sandals in a matching color and you’ve got yourself the perfect classy first-date combo.
